How to Choose a Yogurt for a vegetarian?

One might think that I am not eating meat or fish, so I am a pure vegetarian. Well, here we are not talking about a vegan. You are fine, but would you not want to cut off ingredients that come from animals after it is slaughtered? I think you would. Gelatin is a substance that is taken or extracted from animal fat and a vegetarian would not eat gelatin. If you don’t eat diary food, that is a different story.
I believe if you are a vegetarian due to animal cruelty, you can go for dairy product without gelatin because an animal does not have to be killed to be milked or does not have to go through excruciating pain to be milked.

Now the question comes what food contains gelatin. It might shock you that the yogurt that you are taking might have gelatin, but good news is that every yogurt does not contain gelatin. The organic one or the one that is made of live culture, does not have gelatin. I would rather suggest you to go for gelatin free one as that is what the yogurt is meat for. It should be made naturally not with the help of gelatin. If organic yogurt is expensive, go for the plain yogurt without gelatin.
