People often think that L A is dangerous city. Yes L A has bad reputation but it is not a city that people won't be able to live here safely. It depends on the neighborhood how safe or how dangerous it is. It is one of the most active and most visited cities in USA. Just be careful and do not stay outside at night and walk alone at lonely place. I mean whatever precautions you need for other cities you need to do the same thing for Los Angeles.
East L A has bad reputation than any other area of Los Angeles. One is recommended to be more careful there.
